Seeped in history, this necklace is composed of perfect tiny hand-made bronze Yoruba beads from Nigeria along with Thailand's indiginous hilltribe-made beads, known for their almost pure silver content.  Each bead is individually knotted with strong linen cord allowing for fluid movement.  A discreet sterling lobster clasp  attaches securely to a small length of cable chain. Perfect for adjusting it when worn as a wrapping bracelet.  Original Yoruba small pendant form is soldered to chain end.

Yoruba & Hilltribe Necklace

As a maker, I work primarily in clay and metal.  Both materials come from the earth and are transformed by fire.  Some of the same stones I set in jewelry I use as fine ground powder in glazes. For me, there is something incredible and romantic about the idea of turning rocks and dirt into something beautiful that lasts forever. I find the skills I need for each medium complement each other.
