ABOUT

GET TO KNOW THE MAKER

Early on I realized I was a maker.  I find joy in creating objects that signify or enhance a moment, whether that is a wedding ring or a special mug for a morning up of tea. For me, there is something incredible and romantic about the idea of turning rocks and dirt into something beautiful that lasts forever.  I am in pursuit of alchemy I suppose.  I find the skills I need for each medium compliment each other.  A simple mug can embody a jewel like feel with the depth of a glaze and the comfort of a handle.   A gold ring can convey a tactile earthy feel with layers of texture and tooling.

I try to keep everything I make in harmony with my surroundings and the human body.  Earth tone colors, textures, shapes, — it is all reminiscent of the earth and its landscape. Living and working at the base of Sugar Loaf Mountain, I am enjoying creating both jewelry and pottery/sculpture, often combining these two mediums in unique ways.

As a maker, I work primarily in clay and metal.  Both materials come from the earth and are transformed by fire.  Some of the same stones I set in jewelry I use as fine ground powder in glazes.I am attracted to surfaces that hold stories and lean towards using natural materials like raw minerals and old mined diamonds.  My work is consciously created using conflict free gems and recycled materials.
