MULTI-LEVEL WAX CARVING

Service Description

In this 5 session open level wax working series, you will learn to complete a set of designs utilizing various carving and forming techniques. This class will explore a wide range of sculptural shapes, surface textures, and hollow forms. We will begin by learning subtractive sculpting methods using files, burrs, and carving tools. We will move onto how to work with soft waxes like wire, sheet wax, and use electric wax pens in addition to other modeling tools. Alternative approaches to surface embellishment, casting clean-up, and production considerations will also be covered. This course is open to beginning students as well as those who want to elevate their level of proficiency and strengthen their jewelry making skills. Introductory techniques will be taught and more advanced processes will be elaborated upon with a focus on developing your designs. Variations will be given to accommodate all levels. Our small class size is perfect for the beginner as well as those looking to advance their wax carving skills.
